There was a lively discussion following on from Friends’ November talk, delivered by new Centre Manager, Sarah Wyper. Sarah outlined the Defra-funded partnership project Generation Green 2 which sees the Field Studies Council working with the YHA, National Parks and others, connecting disadvantaged young people with nature. These valuable courses immerse participants in ecology during the day, with fun evening activities like campfires, moth-trapping and simply sitting out under the stars. The experience culminates with the students collecting and analysing their own data for a scientific question, helping them develop new skills away from their usual routines and surrounded by the natural environment!
